Synopsis:

Chen Youching, always on the go, outspoken, outstanding, exceptional .. but also very proud. The only one who can stand her is someone who’s known her for 14 years – Li Daren.

On her 30th birthday, Li Daren’s message on “signs that you’re getting old” struck a chord in her heart. Am I getting old?

Faced with an attractive, mature guy like Li, who’s the same age as she is, she took him up on his NT$100,000 bet – on who’s going to get married first before they reach 31.

But where would she look for the right guy? The assistant that she thought had a crush on her turned out to be gay – although he did say that if he were to marry a woman, it would be her. Her former flame had brought his girlfriend, spending gazillions to propose to her -- much to everyone’s envy. As for her … she only has this guy who cheated on her five years ago appearing before her again … setting her heart fluttering again. Go steady? Sure. Get married? Sure. Give up Li Daren? No way!

In the city, everyone’s looking for love, looking for Mr/Ms Right. We stumble and fall along the way, only to discover that he/she has been right beside you all along, silently keeping watch over you.

Sounds kind of good, right? But 22 episodes? Too long. However, if it's good, I will stick with it. It looks like it'll be fun but hopefully it will be more in the vein of something like Autumn Concerto and not be too slapsticky. I'm familiar with Ariel but I don't know the dude but hopefully, when it finally airs (don't know the air date), I won't be too wrapped up in other dramas to give it a shot.

Sunny Happiness

Call me weird but I actually root for him to get back with his "evil" ex wife. Sure, she shouldn't have suggested they abort their child but on the other hand, he signed the abortion papers (apparently you have to do that in Taiwan/China) and left town. And the fact that she didn't get an abortion shows that she was clearly willing to change her mind about it.

Plus I don't like the annoying, meddling female lead. The second female lead will probably become truly evil in the future but for now, I wish they would just clear their misunderstandings and become a family again.

Having said that, I'm going to go back to watching Happy and Love Forever and maybe I'll finally get through the first episode and hopefully the second. lol. The main leads from that drama appeared in HLF....

Why are these Cinderellas so damn self-righteous?

So I've started watching Sunny Happiness since I don't mind twdramas and dangermousie on livejournal was raving about it.

Just like Korean dramas, Taiwanese dramas are notorious for Cinderella plots and while they've gotten old to me, I can still watch them.

But the thing I dislike most about these damn Cinderellas is that while poor, they are supposedly pure hearted and hardworking but instead come off as self righteous know-it-alls who feel morally superior. ARGH!

The second lead female is baaaaaad (she hid the lead's kid from him) but if this annoying female lead keeps it up, I'm going to root against her.

So through drama circumstances, she finds out that her boss (she's a cleaner at his hotel) has a child. She finds out because she ends up being the kid's nanny. Yes, the plot is ridiculous but at least is slightly less ridiculous than it sounds. Anyway, she finds out he has a kid and instead of minding her own damn business, even though she doesn't know the full story, she barges into the her boss's office and admonishes him for abandoning his child. WTF and who does she think she is? UGH.

And if the maid stuff wasn't Cinderella enough, she comes with two step sisters and a step mom. lol. Even the characters had to mention that she was a Cinderella.

Anyway, I'm going to keep watching and hope for the best. UGH! Rant over.

4 Gifts

So even though I kinda dropped this drama, I decided to watch the storyline of the couple I decided I liked in the first 30 mins of episode 1. Maybe I'll go back and watch the drama in its entirety because another storyline with the eldest sister and her colleague is supposedly really good.

So the characters are Ren Shao, a difficult designer and Ruo Wei, a fashion editor.

I started watching their scenes from like episode 7 (I will backtrack further later) and apparently, Ruo Wei's little sister had a crush on Ren Shao so she said she'd back off. But of course RS really likes her. So we had a kiss at a party that the sister witnessed and after that, RW bought concert tickets for them but he was too dense to realize that she was asking him out, she got pissed off, they did the usual Asian drama thing of him chasing her, he then helped her solve a problem at work, she got sick and hurt her leg and he tended to her the whole time. AWWW. They are cute. Looks like he'll be proposing next week.

As for the poor little sister, she began to work with him and invited him to a Valentine's Day dinner. He accepted not realizing it was Val's Day. So while the little sister was all happy, he was using it as an opportunity to get info on her sister. lol. Oh well... she's ending up with her best friend so all's well that end's well.  I guess I will eventually watch this drama in its entirety. But argh, I don't want to have to watch it on viikii.

Mentioning My Queen...

.. led me to watching one of my favorite scenes from the drama.

So she's single at Christmas and decides to cheer herself up with a little one night stand. She finds herself a sexy victim and when they are at the beginning of getting it on, she sees his ID card, and because she's completely insane, freaks out because of the age difference. LMAO. Who, other than this woman, cares about an age difference when it comes to a one night stand for crying out loud? In fact, knowing that he's a younger guy should make it even more fun, if anything. lol.

4 Gifts

So I've not gone back to watching this drama since I paused it in ep 1. But now that I see a kiss is coming up in next week's episode, why am I suddenly interested again? Hehehe.

Hold up!

So my hubby, Wu Chun, will be starring in a new drama? His co-star is Rainie Yang and it's called Sunshine Angel.

I know Wu Chun gets a bad rap for his acting but I really don't give a crap because he's HOT. But that doesn't mean I'll finish a drama just for his looks... but I'll definitely give it a shot and hope that his good looks and a good plot can keep me watching - even if his skills are sub par. So far, I've seen: Hana Kimi (completed), Tokyo Juliet (dropped), Romantic Princess (dropped) and Hot Shot (dropped). Okay, so it looks like I dropped way too many but to be honest, Romantic Princess and Hot Shot were dropped because the subs were coming out really slowly. In fact, they were on hiatus at some point. And now that they are fully subbed, I just no longer have any interest in them. Besides, I kept watching Hot Shot, not because of Wu Chun, but because of the Jerry Yan storyline (so I guess I really, really, really have a thing for the whole long time friends(or enemies)-becoming-lovers plot).

Moving on... as for Rainie. I've seen ToGetHer(completed) and Devil Beside You (dropped after one episode). One might wonder why I finished the one that's rated much lower by the general masses? Well, I thought ToGetHer was alright and Devil Beside You was just too OTT for me. Anyway, I think Rainie's just okay and not memorable. Regardless, I'll be giving this one a shot for sure.

4 Gifts - Twdrama

Out of sheer boredom, I decided to try yet another drama. This time, it's "Four Gifts." What is 4 gifts about? You tell me. Cos dramawiki doesn't seem to know either since this is what they have as the synopsis:

Dedicated queens fight hard in the workplace, but how do they find a tough enough man worthy of being their other half?

Makes you want to rush out to buy a television set just so you can tune in, right? 

Luckily, a blogger called zsa86 has done some digging and you can get all the info at her site.

Anyway, I watched the first 30 minutes and have decided to save the rest for another day. lol. From what I gather, it's about four sisters and their love lives. So far, we have the fashion editor sister paired with a difficult fashion designer and the annoying police chief sister paired with a kind hearted police offer.  Is it just me or is that difficult fashion designer somewhat similar to Lee Jin Soo? Not only does he refuse to show up to interviews, he also has the motto that one shouldn't bother fighting unless they know they'll win.

Well, I won't rate it yet as I've only seen 30 mins so far. But it didn't grab me enough to make me want to finish the episode in one go so that must mean something. Oh well.

Out of Sheer Boredom...

... I've decided to create a post with all my drama ratings. As well as perhaps write some reviews like I did for Nodame Cantabile. I must really be bored.

Gosh... is this going to show me just how much of a loser I am when I list ALL the dramas I've seen? lol. Should be fun and a good time waster.

I guess boredom makes me post in a blog no one reads?

2010 kdramas I've watched so far:


Pick the stars/Wish Upon A Star: Started off well. About a materialistic girl who ends up having to take care of her siblings after her parents are murdered. Fun and cute till it went bad. However, they gave us a nice ending. It's a shame that they ruined the drama but I didn't feel like I wasted my time... it was on to the next drama.


Birth of the rich. About a poor guy who believed he was the son of a rich man and was on a quest to find his father. Got some negative comments on dramabeans (but who cares?) but I really enjoyed it at first. It got extended because of the good ratings and to be honest, because subs were kinda slow, I won't say I completely finished this drama... it didn't end as well as it began but it was alright. It was on to the next drama.


Oh My Lady. Had an interesting looking couple and seemed cute and nice enough. About a spoilt brat idol and the ajumma who lives with him and takes care of the daughter he never knew he had. The first episodes were boring to me. But I liked both actors and stuck it out. It got a little better when they kissed in episode 6 (lol) but extremely slow with very slow progress and they forgot there was a romance till the last episode. No pay off in this drama. A waste of time. BAD!


Prosecutor Princess. I watched half way through and lost interest. I didn't mind that she was very materialistic and such but I didn't like the main guy (and whatever secret he was hiding) so one day, I just lost all interest. LOL. It happens like that sometimes.


Coffee House. About a crazy writer, his publisher and a girl who becomes his secretary. I was entirely addicted to this drama and it ended the way I wanted. There are things that the writers should have handled better. For instance, he left because he needed to deal with issues he had with his past. When he returned, there was no mention of them at all. He didn't even say, "Now, I'm okay." Sure he was back and his actions showed he'd moved past them (driving, cell phone) but I would have loved him to vocalize it. A little clarification on if his wife committed suicide or if it was an accident. It looked like suicide but I would have liked to hear them say for sure. Also it would have been nice if the characters had told us if they really had liked one another "10 years ago" or not. It looked like he might have but we don't know about her. Also far less time on the secretary and more time on the final couple. All these things probably should make me like it less but I absolutely loved the chemistry between the main couple -that's what kept me hooked on this drama. Not the plot but the chemistry.


2010 twdramas:
Down With Love. I didn't expect to like it but I enjoyed it. It was not an addiction for me (CH was the only one) but it was simple and cute. And the couple had chemistry.


PS Man. I just saw like two middle episodes. I planned on watching but boy was it dragging. Not going to bother with it.


Zhong Wu Yen. I like Cheryl after My Queen but the characters in this drama are really annoying - especially the guy so I lost interest real quick. Only saw 1.25 episodes.


2010 jdramas:
Yankee-kun to Megane-chan. Haven't finished it yet because I chose to wait for subs but fun and silly so far. Will probably finish it.


Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku. So far so good. About an unsuccessful wannabe actor and a single mother. One thing I like about jdramas is their stories are often about average people. Unlike kdramas (and twdramas) where some rich guy and poor girl hook up. 


Tsuki no Koibito, I saw the first episode and it wasn't bad. But the reviews are terrible so I've been turned off big time. Maybe I'll try it for myself later on. 

My fantasy cast for Wrong Foot First

I'm totally spazzing about Hana Kimi so my fantasy cast has changed. After I saw Snow Queen, my cast was:

Hyun Bin as Ji Tae
Song Hye Gyo as Hee Soo.

The rest of the cast was yet to be determined :D

Now it's:

Tang Yu Zhe as Ji Tae
Song Hye Gyo (or some other pretty actress) as Hee Soo
Wu Chun as Ki Won.

I do realize that there might be a language issue with the new cast but I really don't know that many Taiwanese actresses and I don't think Ariel or Ella would be good as Hee Soo. Rainie is a pretty actress but I'm not quite sure she can do Hee Soo justice. Haha... maybe one of the friends from ISWAK - the one with the afro.

All in all, it's just a fangirl's fantasy but Chun and Yu Zhe are just so pretty...
